about

(Greek Sephardic) This tune is about Jaco, an actual singer who was popular in Thessalonica between the world wars. Lazy, wily Jaco is being hounded to get up and go do his job entertaining the public. He retorts, “When the musicians are playing in the tavern, I sing along without stopping…I take a look at what the customers are drinking and sing to them accordingly.”
